Trip to the Far East to try out the much raved-about prawn noodles that I’ve always wanted to try. 🦐
I really, really like the chilli paste for the noodles here. Very well-fried with a complexed taste of hae bee, garlic & dried chillies. I think I detected some belacan too. And you don’t even have to toss and mix it with your noodles, for the chef does it thoroughly for you. Just stick your chopsticks in and dig in, hassle-free.
At first sip, the soup seems a little spicy. But the strong, pronounced, prawn flavour comes in later and grows on you. So addictive & I was glad that the dry version was accompanied by a generously large bowl of soup.
Prices are from $6 for the soup version and from $6.50 for the dry version. There are add-on options like pig skin, intestines & abalone. I probably caught the lady behind the counter at a good moment, as I received a quick sand egg 沙蛋 on the house. 🍀
It’s a little out of the way, I know. But perhaps it could be a breakfast stopover before your next Ubin trip or cycling trail in the East. Alternatively, there is a branch in Fengshan Food Centre.
Quite an outstanding bowl of noodles worth the morning trip out for me.
