My brother-in-law has been raving about this seafood soup for a while now, and I finally managed to make the long trip up north to check this out for myself - and what a gem this is, probably one of Marsiling’s more well-kept secrets.
Owner Michael Lai uses quality ingredients such as pork bones, mature chicken, scallops and sole fish that are slow-boiled to coax out the flavours to form the soup base. The minced meat patties are also outstanding - well-marinated with a distinct fragrance of ti po. At $6.50, you get 2 huge prawns, 3 meat patties and generous chunks of dory fish & tomato swimming in a flavour-packed soup. What is most impressive for me was that the prawns were fresh and meaty, something not often found elsewhere.
