Having driven past Coronation Plaza on numerous occasions, I had always been intrigued by the food truck parked just outside the building. From the signage on display, I knew that it was a burger place, but had neither the excuse nor impetus to make my way to a shopping centre known more for its student-centric services than anything else.
The reason arrived in the form of my daughter's craving for a "good cheeseburger", and since I was in the midst of a sort of cheeseburger hunt over the past few weeks, off we went to satisfy that urge during the September holiday break.

We arrived at an off-peak timing, and that plus the cloudy skies provided a perfect setting for an al-fresco lunch. With barely anyone around, I could get in an unblocked shot of the food truck as well. *Yay*
If you are wondering why they call themselves The Goodburger, it’s not just because their burgers are literally good, but more importantly, it’s also because no animals were slaughtered to make their burgers. That’s right, the menu here is entirely plant-based, with all the burger patties made from Impossible – plant-based food that looks, smells and tastes like real meat.

For the uninitiated, the Impossible burger patty was first introduced by the company Impossible Foods in 2019 and it has "more protein, less total fat, no cholesterol, and less food energy than a similar-sized hamburger patty made with beef" [quoted from https://impossiblefoods.com]. More importantly, it produces less greenhouse gases during its production, so consuming it is more environmentally-friendly in comparison to the traditional burger!

It can even be done to have a pinkish centre - just like an actual medium-rare beef patty.
The drawback here is that because Impossible is expensive (the price reportedly costs as much as a good quality angus beef), the burgers are priced higher – starting from $16 for a single patty classic burger.
The menu at The Goodburger is not extensive – there are only 3 types of “beef” burgers to choose from – but what they have, they do it very well.
We tried out all 3 – The Classic (with cheese & their special sauce), The Black Tie (with truffle aioli & wild rocket) and One Night in Bangkok (with onions in a Thai-style sauce) and were well-satisfied with what we got. I personally enjoyed The Classic the most - a direct take on the cheeseburger paired with freshly-fried thick-cut fries.

They even have a “chicken” burger and sides of “chicken” nuggets, all done using Tindle, a plant-based ingredient that tastes like real chicken meat.
I also like their initiative of offering The Classic at a student rate of $10 all-day long. It’s a nice gesture of making their wholesome food affordable to students, particularly those studying in the vicinity.
Given the price point, it's not something I can indulge in frequently, but The Goodburger will certainly come to my mind the next time I crave for a "good" cheeseburger!
