Not many other stalls, if any, serve fallopian tubes (生肠) in their pork porridge.
I like 生肠 (sang1 cheong2 in Cantonese). Food R Us in Queen’s Road does a very good, spicy XO
生肠. In porridge however, there is nothing to mask the natural flavour of the 生肠 - but they are naturally crunchy and have a slight sweetness if they have been washed & handled well.
Here at Tian Tian, the mixed pork porridge contains that, plus marinated minced pork balls & liver slices. The liver comes slightly undercooked when served such that the little traces of liver juices lend flavour to the porridge. Simple fare that warms the heart & stomach.
In their hey day, when the sale of 鱼生 (yu3 sang1) was thriving, business would be roaring, especially on weekends when it could be hard to even snare a seat. These days, it’s much quieter. The owners are really old now, so do come & grab a bowl of nostalgia before they decide to call it a day.
P.S. You Tiao was bought separately from another stall
